    That is a very under-explored part of the crisis.  

    There will, inevitably, be a pandemic.  People who get sick and can't get treatment because they don't have the insurance or the cash on the barrelhead will infect others.  And on and on it goes.  

    We talk a lot about insurance, but this is actually about care.  Whether you carry an insurance card or not doesn't matter if you don't have access to care, and plenty of people who do have insurance still put off the visits because of increasingly large co-pays.  There's also the real possibility that specialty care will end up coming out of their pocket months down the line, after it was "precertified".
