    If you've ever been in a position where you were truly destitute, didn't know where you were gonna find money to buy food, pay rent, pay heating bills, etc -- if you would refuse to scab even if you were in such a position, then kudos, you have more intestinal fortitude than I.

      that the employee and his family starve instead?

      What happens then if someone else comes to the employer and says that they will work for even less money than you?

        to prevent this from happening, without devolving into violence.  There is a profound lack of militancy and, frankly, lack of interest in today's labor movement that typically prevents this from happening.
