I still have a delightful 70s book, Living on the Earth by Alicia Bay Laurel, all about living closer to nature, having as little disruptive impact as possible, and enjoying life. Also back in the early 70s, there was a grassroots initiative that qualified for the California ballot, called the Clean Environment Act. My ex-husband, and I, and Jane, a dear, dear, friend, who has since passed on, helped work to get it on the ballot. It didn't get voted in, but it made the legislature pay attention, and it was part of the large groundswell of the environmental movement that brought about positive changes. And our adverseries were the same as now; big oil, big oil. But, you are so right, the precepts are very much the same.
