No, we are not debating any sort of principle here.

Let's be very clear: this is the second diary in which Goldberry has launched an aggressive caricature of a racial or religious group in the guise of "protest" against a candidate's supporters.

This is the type of behavior which you are defending.

This presentation of a stereotypical meme of rabid supporters beheading dissent was deliberate, it was malicious, it was bigoted, and it was aggressive.

I'd hate to be a practicing muslim on this site right need reading this gratuitous filth.

As the ostensible target of this "diary," I don't mind much being told I'm in a cult; that's all over this site.

But just as with HarveyMilk, I will speak up, loudly and even viciously, when people give themselves permission to spread these racist caricatures while cowardly cloaking themselves in some bs arguments about principles.

I calmly engaged goldberry in her other racist diary, telling myself that this commenter could be talked into reason.  Her issues are apparently much deeper than that.  And so are yours and those of any of the number of commenters who rec'd, tipped and high-fived this madness.

In no way does Goldberry's diary "caricature a racial or religious group."  In...no...way.

I'm not making some nuanced argument about this or that way to read it.  I'm not saying, as I do sometimes say in other contexts, that you're being hypersensitive.  I'm saying, as categorically as possible, that Goldberry's diary no more caricatures a racial or religious group than it advocates repeal of the law of gravity.  It takes a shitload of bad faith to claim otherwise.

is just reading goldberry "in bad faith."  Not her fault, she's not responsible for her garbage, people need to read a piece likening a president's supporters to "jihadists" who will "behead" her in good faith.

Would goldberry head into your average muslim neighborhood and crack these jokes?

Nope.  Because bigots are above else, cowards.

Even goldberry knows her piece is offensive.  She just knows this is a safe place to spout this type of hatred.  A place you're trying to keep safe for it.

...and express my belief that Christianity is a bizarre zombie cult.  That's because I'm polite, not because I'm a coward.  Goldberry's perfectly innocuous words have attracted the wrath of 60-70% of the comments here, because that's the proportion of commenters who are determined to wipe out all criticism on this site.

It was a bigoted piece written by someone who cloaked herself in the victimhood of some menace from random commenters on a website.  Ridiculous and despicable doesn't even begin to describe it.

Here's a clue: if goldberry is unable to criticize a candidate or supporters of said candidate without repeating bigoted smears, then perhaps the problem is goldberry.  And if you find the intolerance of bigoted smears itself intolerant, then it's unclear why anyone of decent heart need accommodate your particular tastes.

Let's wrap it up with a bow, give it to Sen. Obama, and ask him what he thinks.  Short of that, I guess we'll just call it a day.
