if done well could undermine the race card that anti-Obama forces have been playing since the results of the Iowa caucuses were reported.  However, wouldn't expect that much from Oprah.

On the one hand some great and noble charity work, on the other hand constant hyping of 3rd world made products and the unopposed hosting of a full Neocon panel to push the Iraq invasion.

But King, I think she'd ordinarily do a pretty excellent job.

I have one small question, since Obama is wanting to run a not-race-focused campaign, if that will affect her handling any way. I think she can do an arbitrarily thorough job without hurting Obama.

while at the same time they don't for one second deny that they're African Americans.  MLK, Jr. was moving towards that but he was far from there in '68 because the country was much more racist then than it is today.  Yet, since then the memory of MLK, Jr. has also somewhat transcended race.  I'll never say anything critical of Oprah ever again if she can pull off non-sentimental, race transcending tribute to a bold MLK, Jr. to her audience.  Hell, if every American simply read his speech on his opposition to the Vietnam war they'd think he was a real prophet.
