  •  Thank you Tom (6+ / 0-)

This diary is exceptional. I so clearly recall when great National figures began to express opposition to the War, the first being Dr. Benjamin Spock, And Dr. King. And that is precisely when the Anti-War Movement took off.
We may never know who exactly was responsible for Dr. King's murder, but we do know how incensed FBI Director Hoover was, and the covert operations he ordered against Dr. King, and your diary goes to why that was. It amazes me that it's been 40 years now since the deaths of our great leaders, MLK and RFK, and the time when the reactionary forces in this Nation succeeded in shutting down the movement your Diary alludes to.
Since that time, this Nation has undergone a sharp shift to the Right, which has come to a head in the last 7 years, and which we must put to an end in November of this year.
I believe that we will. You and I do not support the same candidate at present, but we do share a common vision, and in time we will, all of us here, be working toward that common vision together.
In the days of Martin Luthor King and the Movement he began there were two Americas, both in racial and social/economic terms. What most Americans fail to realize about Dr. King is that he was a leader for One America, not just one of two.
This is the year to pick up the struggle that ended 40 years ago. Your Diary is like a signpost that points to the exact place that struggle was left. Thank you once again, Brother Tom!
