      but not Edwards'? I agree he needs to defend it on its own merits, but Edwards mustn't get a free pass on shitty votes.

        he does have to answer for them.  However, we often talk around here about giving a politician a break for votes because he or she represents a red state or district.  I would guess that accounts for some of his very poor votes.  Therefore, I'm willing to give him a bit of a pass on them since, now that he doesn't have to answer to the NC populace, he is free to say as he pleases.  And, what he has been saying for the past 4-5 years has been music to my ears.

        What really matters to me most is what the candidates state they will do now.  What we can expect from his or her presidency.
