  •  Uprated because of TR abuse (0+ / 0-)

I've seen worse comments made about a candidate that get uprated. I wouldn't rec this comment, but it's not a troll-rate worthy comment either.

    •  Here's why I TR'd that comment: (0+ / 0-)

#1. The comment was quickly inserted before the diarist had a chance to post a tip jar ("hijacking")

#2. The comment made was defamatory towards a Democratic presidental candidate - AND had nothing to do with the topic at hand ("hijacking")

#3. The "have a cigar" reference was to the Monica Lewinsky - Bill Clinton episode; it is a standard RW meme to bring up

I took an hour to decide whether to TR that comment... hardly abusive. I take TU status fairly seriously, and whether or not there are "worse" comments out there -well, not my problem.

      •  I'll take back the uprate out of respect for how (0+ / 0-)

much thought you put into your decision. However, that comment was made 6 min after the diary was put up. That's not exactly jumping the tip jar. I didn't see the cigar comment as a Monica reference, I took it as a snippy "What do you want, a cookie?"-type comment. And we'll need more donuts if we are going to TR every comment that hijacks a candidate diary.

is one of two reasons (the other being the valuable info I gain from a non-MSM source) I still am lingering around Daily Kos. Thanks for taking the time to discuss this with me...

Not to beat a dead horse over this TR, but I did post a "should I TR this?" comment - and waited to see what the poster had to say.

This is how they responded (the post is upthread):

carry on with glorifying  your queen and king....

... I don't appreciate bill clinton acting like Karl Rove.

The Clintons are NOT a 'monarchy' and to compare a Democratic president with Karl Rove is, well, trollish in my book. So I ended up using the donut.

I rec'd a couple and didn't rec a couple of others. There certainly is a fine line between heated debate and mudslinging, as there is with is TR worthy and what isn't.

But it's a lot easier to agree to disagree when someone is obviously making a point not to be disagreeable, lol. So basically, thank you for the reminder that we don't have to be at each other's throats all the time. :)
