As much as she might like it to be so, this isn't about Bev.

whenever she is used as a source.  Nothing she does is clean.

has proven to be unreliable in the past, it tends to cast doubt on the veracity of the current claims.  (Note that the current claim includes that the boxes were slit, but you comment below that there was no evidence of that in the video)

      •  To be honest, I don't know about Bev (2+ / 0-)

I understand she has been "proven" unreliable in the past, but as far as I know, that "proof" was no better documented than any of her claims.  There was footage in Hacking Democracy that, as I understood it from the Bev debunkers, had been "proven" not to exist.

I tend to think she has more credibility than her most ardent detractors would like us to believe.  First and foremost...she shows up and she gets the footage. That alone gives her more credibility with me than many of her armchair-bound detractors. And the people who have the least credibility with me are the Bev detractors who haven't even bothered to watch Hacking Democracy.

Second, both Avi Rubin and Howard Dean appeared with her in Hacking Democracy. I guess some people around here may still think Dean is a screaming looney, but I'm not one of them. As for Avi, his credentials are impressive, and he's been quoted as saying, "Electronic voting machines are like catnip to conspiracy theorists."  I'm inclined to think that both of them have their doubts about Bev too, but still think there are serious problems with our elections and are willing to evaluate all evidence with an open mind.

Me, I take all claims by anyone with a healthy dose of skepticism. If someone has proven to be unreliable in the past, with even more skepticism, but I will never dismiss actual evidence out of hand just because the source is questionable.  (The old saw says only to consider the source, not to rely on it as an absolute guide to the validity of the information. That's a very lazy mode of thinking.)

I told this diarist earlier to come back when he had some video to back up his claims. He has. Good for him. That doesn't settle anything for me one way or another, but I'm happy he posted it and I wait patiently for more information to emerge.
