letter, and if so, what was his response ?

    •  Yes, he signed Iraq Liberation Act in Oct 1998 (10+ / 0-)

      which read in part:

"It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime."

Clinton also authorized the bombing of Iraq in December 1998.

      That's how he responded.

people wonder why Clinton didn't critize Bush on the Iraq War, he didn't have a lot of floor space to wiggle out from himself.  Granted their policies weren't the same, but don't let us fool ourselves into thinking they were as different as, at least I believe, they should have been.

        •  Robert, here's the link to ILA (0+ / 0-)

It forbids the use of U.S. troops for anything except training coupsters from inside.

This legislation was signed by, not formulated by, Clinton.  Some here will try to equate it with Desert Fox.  Clinton was much more tied-in to Desert Fox.  He knew only about the smallest bits of the groups that were supposed to unite to overthrow Saddam; as I said upthread, same country, different actions.

Desert Fox was an escalation of something the Pentagon did with Blair and Clinton.  I don't know anyone at the Pentagon and could never put anything together with any intermediaries.  But there will always be conspiracy theorists.

once or twice and warn Bushco about him.

Some good among the bad. I still don't want him back though.

...he bombed some tents in Afghanistan -- and a factory in Sudan that made anti-malaria medication -- so that America wouldn't look weak after two embassies were bombed. Unfortunately for us all Osama bin Laden wasn't making anti-malaria medication that day. Or in a half dozen torched tents in the Afghan desert.

          •  I love the bombing (0+ / 0-)

has come to separate itself from "war", or even "military engagement", bombing has its own category in the arsenal of executive power.

What possesses you to use RWTP's every chance you get?

This story was about PNAC's ridiculous letter to Clinton.  You succeeded in taking the focus away from neocons and putting all blame for everything anywhere, all the time, squarely in Bill Clinton's sphere.

He is not my favorite politician, and I feel pretty weird defending him.  But I feel as though I am in a den of neocons who are all doing the distraction game, and you are attacking the only Democratic president we've had in the last 28 years.

This is bizarre.  I would check your other comments if it weren't so incredibly late; this is the sort of thing I normally see from RW trolls.
