shut down?  Does that mean the line is so overwhelmed that calls can't get through?  It sounds like it means she's disconnected her number to avoid hearing from us, which makes no sense for several reasons.  I'd love to hear what happens if anyone calls Mikulski - I'm going into a meeting right now myself.

I asked if there were a lot of calls. The staffer said "Yes; they're going both ways." I spluttered into the phone, made my point again, loudly but politely, and hung up.

Line busy? Voicemail? Good! "Both ways" my butt!

That which you must do, do it. That which is done for you, let it be done.

I sent an e-mail on Friday.  Often her office has responded to e-mails, and I made sure I mentioned that I wanted to hear why she voted as she did on Friday.  No response.

A conspiracy theorist would think that maybe the telecoms have something to do with their phone lines being busy.

Any thoughts on who might be running against Mikulski in 2010?  I am getting more and more frustrated with her record -- she also voted for the Republican 2005 energy bill.  She seems to be drifting away from her electorate.

I just saw the post by valver below saying she plans to vote against cloture.

from Bill Nelson's office when I called last week. (Yes, I called today, too, to both DC and state offices.) I can't imagine who those people are who are all fired up to hand immunity to telecoms.
