and THAT is why  it is right to focus, at least some of our energy, on it.   What angers me also is listening to senator after senator try to marginalize our Judicial system by inserting the 'wisdom' of the intell committee in its place.

we have THREE Branches of government and when one or more of them is marginalized our republic FAILS to work as it is supposed to.

it is NOT up to the intell committee or ANY congressional committee to decide guilt or innocense...THAT is the purvey of our courts EVEN during wartime.

IF telecoms deserve to be spared from civil lawsuits then the COURTS will dismiss the cases before it...  it is NOT the job or the right of a political committee of congress to make that decision.

either THE LAW IS THE LAW...or it isn't...it cannot be both at the same time.

    •  Yes. Even if there is an unfair outcome... (0+ / 0-)

...in a court case, the phone companies can appeal to a higher court, under existing law.

It is slimy for Russ Feingold and Jay Rockefeller and George W. Bush to try to retroactively change the rules.

They should let our judicial branch do its job based on the laws which existed when the violations occurred.
