    I hesitate to contradict the Senator while he is making an important point, but he's wrong about his BlackBerry.  The nice thing about the BlackBerry system is that emails and messages are encrypted end-to-end and can't be intercepted by a man in the middle attack.  The NSA or whomever would need to be in physical control of either your email server or your phone before they could read the email on your BlackBerry.

    Back in the '90s network programmers used to fret and pout about encryption a lot.  They invented a lot of cool protocols like SSL, IPSec, and PGP.  People used to think they were paranoid kooks, but who's laughing now, I wonder?
