It's easy on  It can be something really simple like we're doing here - small rallies on key corners of various towns, just a few people (even just one, if that is all that turns up) and some signs.  It's all about visibility.

Standing out on street corner by myself holding a home made sign is just not very appealing to me and I don't see what purpose it would serve. Our primary is May 20. If this thing goes on until then, I'll pitch in.

Politics doesn't have to be like that.

If everybody did one four hour event of any sort for the candidate or cause of their choice per election...our Democracy would work a lot better.

And once you learn how to phone bank or canvass, you can be pretty effective in  four hours...and warm...if you phone bank from home you can be in your pajamas if you choose.

And, yeah, standing on a corner alone is for the die hards.  (But don't knock the die hards...they can make a difference too.)

        Get involved...VOLUNTEER for Obama!

Although standing on a street corner now when your primary isn't until May, probably not so much.

If, on the other hand, as in my case, it is on Tuesday, it is big, and if we get 2 or 3 or 5 people instead of one, bigger still.  People in this town need to see their neighbours standing up, and out there, and getting excited.    I'm not the youth vote, I'm not the male vote, and I'm not the African American vote, and people need to see that to counter the spin.

Phone banking/canvassing is huge, and warm.  It's all about finding what works for you and just getting out there (or staying home) and doing it.

        •  Well I signed up for a 5 hr event on Saturday (1+ / 0-)

so can I just do 3hrs in November?   =~>

Love that "power of the purse!" It looks so nice up there on the mantle (and not the table) next to the "subpoena power."

      •  Mike! Why not phonebank from home? (1+ / 0-)

Instead of blogging in your jammies over the next few days, you can make calls in your jammies. You'll be calling into states where the campaign needs you most -- right now.  I'm doing calls in Spanish so I am not sure how the general system works but you may even be able to choose a neighboring state -- say CA or NM.

Please, Mike. We need you :)
