    •  Over twenty years ago, I made a rash decision (0+ / 0-)

for which I am still paying.  You see, I don't drink.

      During Bush...Clinton...Clinton...Bush...Bush...?

      Yep.  Not one.

      But I grumble a lot.

Honesty is still the best policy.

We're celebrating the mere chance to have a simple upperdown vote on stripping telecom amnesty. Frankly, I don't think we have the 51+ votes to pass the amendment.
Are there any other technical hurdles that can be erected to stop this FISA bill if the amnesty stripping amendments don't pass?!?
There's much too much premature celebration going on in this thread. People need to recognize that we're still at a severe disadvantage as far as telecom amnesty is concerned.

      •  Conference Committee (0+ / 0-)

A lot depends on who Reid and Pelosi appoint. Rockefeller, Leahy, Conyers, and Reyes are pretty much automatic. Figure Rockefeller top vote with the Republicans. It's the other selections hold the balance. After theat, there's a slim chance to reject the Conference Report in the House.

I suppose now would be a good time to start pressuring Pelosi to appoint anti-amnesty committee members then.
I fully expect the Senate to fail us. "Help us, Pelosi. You're our only hope."
