Appreciate the comment.  I know there are a lot of liberal gun owners, at least 10 million based on our research.   We also believe in the right of every law abiding citizen to own guns and support the Second Amendment. Thanks.

I'm thanking you. We need a liberal alternative to the NRA.

I quit the NRA many years ago due to their crazy pro-cop killer bullet stance. I have owned weapons most of my life and began shooting when I was five. I think folks who aren't using weapons to break the law should generally be left alone; folks who use weapons to commit crimes should get very, very heavy sentences based on that use, even if they don't fire a shot; reasonable regulation to promote safety is fine with me. Just my opinion but I think most people who think having a weapon in their house makes them safer are nuts.

But I think the idea that a civilian populace trained in rifle shooting contributes to national defense is bogus. Maybe in the 1800s that might have been valid, when weapons were much harder to use and Infantry formed the core of the Army. My kids' video-game skills and physical fitness are much more germane to modern military service. You can train someone to shoot a modern weapon pretty a small fraction of the time it would take them to become fit, for example.
