    Insurance by definition requires an extremely large risk pool, not more smaller pools. We need more regulation, not less. Just like we regulate the other basic necessities of life, like water and electricity.

    Deregulation is part of what led to the Enron mess.

      and I see your point,

      but didn't the system inevitably take care of Enron because it got so far out of field, exploited so many people, caused so much grief and suffering, and eventually go under?

      Doesn't that inevitably happen to all bad companies?
