    Are you sure about that?  He's been living here and working here for six years on a TOURIST VISA?  That's no tourist.  I thought tourists couldn't work.  That would explain the 12 trips though, constantly renewing that up to six months TOURIST visa.

      Was a student at University of Alaska on different visa.  Applied for new visa to return and was given this new visa by consulate with understanding agreed upon by consulate that he was going to apply for work permit when here. Maybe they were wink-wink-ing at him and he missed that american signal to lie. But the whole "Tell them to lie and it's okay except if we guess you're lying then you're banned." is nuts.
