      I live in Chattanooga now, but I'm from the U.P. and still have camp/lake property up there.  Many years ago my Grandpa told me the camp (we call them camps) next to ours was in fact used by gangsters from Chicago.  I was in grade school when he told me that, and it was my first exposure to gangsters. The property is also next to property owned by Bart Stupak... there are a smattering of isolated lakes in the middle of the Peninsula. You can go days without seeing people.

      Anatomy of a Murder was filmed there.  I was a waitress and waited on Robert Traver many times.
