Varies from person to person and in my opinion is very personal. Espesionally when you have two capable and qualified canidates. I will not play the racial or gener bias games because I believe the democratic party will rally around the eventual nominee. They will do this not because of reverse racism against white people or reverse sexism against men. They would do it because the ideological diffences are more important than either the racial or ideological differences.

One of the reason that I'm voting for Obama is because for most of my life there has been a Bush or a Clinton in the white house(I was born 1982). I personally believe that there are more than two families capable of running the White House. Most people will tell me that this is unfair to Hilary because she just happen to marry Bill Clinton but that is my opinion.

However I would vote for Clinton before I voted for John Edwards, because I don't share in some of his idealogical beliefs.

So when you have the choice of two canidates that you believe are equally compontent and qualify how you make that can turn out to be very trivial. However if Clinton surrgates keep scaring up votes by bringing race up. I will not vote for her in the general election as a protest.

But in the past had race not mattered not every president would have been a white male. Most likely, of the 44 presidents we've had, 22 or 23 would have been female and 3-5 would have been African-American.
