Under a Dem president, they probably can be relied upon for greater loyalty. It's only under an R that they go off the reservation to support this sort of thing.

Fair-weather Dems might be a better term for many of them.

They are sticking behind a Republican president who has approval ratings struggling to hit 30% and they are selling out their base to do it.  A base that is otherwise incredibly energized for November's election.  They don't need to be Republican-lite to win re-election in 2008; in fact, this display might cause them big problems in that regard.

These people are in it for themselves.  If it pays for them to support a Dem President, they will, but if not ... look out.

The only difference will be that Pelosi will likely have a stronger backbone with a Dem in the White House so she may be willing to exercise some pressure to keep these boneheads in line.  Of course they could always switch parties, and then we would be rid of them.

At least we have likely gained a good progressive in Donna Edwards.  And I also hope we get to replace Harry Reid as majority leader.  Hopefully, Hillary Clinton will be looking for a job.

Any party that would lie to start a war would also steal an election.

I was.  It was sickening, watching the Democrats turn on Clinton.  Not that he had really done much to earn any loyalty, but come on!  We have to face the facts.  The Democrats in Congress (with the exception of some newbies and most of the Congressional Progressive Caucus) are so whipped they don't know how to fight back anymore.  They're utterly useless.  We need to purge the party members who have continually sold us down the river, and replace them with progressives whose records match their fiery rhetoric.
