  •  The 50% myth (none)
is a media meme that really annoys me.  50% of what? Of "Likely voters"

How many Americans didn't vote last time around? 52%, wasn't it? That means, my friend, that the Bush's red "half" really stands for 24% -- one-quarter of the voting pool (which, frankly, sounds about right to me-- a coalition of the rich, the corporately-inclined, wingnuts & fundies, plus the slice that likes to be on the winning side of whatever)

Why didn't they vote?  Thought their vote wouldn't make any difference-- Fla. disproved that, big time.  Thought both parties were more or less alike-- 4 years of Chimpy and nobody thinks that any more.

On top of everything else, the overtime bill is chipping away at salaries.

Now the 52% thingie may be off a bit, but the principle holds.  I for one am weary of hearing an ersatz quotient endlessly repeated as if it were fact.

Sorry for the rant, but I think this buys into the very sort of triumphalist inevitability that RoveCo specializes in.
