  •  gringo resort client state? (0+ / 0-)

wow thats pretty damn racist.  is he saying he hates tourism?  because castro has already setup a huge tourism industry that practices extreme discrimination against cubans.

    •  he's considering the past history of Cuba (0+ / 0-)

in which it was a mobbed up dictatorship where anything and anyone could be had for money--sort of like an old-style Las Vegas for rich Americans, but without the regulations. The revolution happened for a reason, you know... which is not to excuse the abuses that have happened since.
And yes, like most of the Cubans I've met, he is not thrilled with the impact of tourism, including the discrimination you mention, even though it is a provider of jobs and the possibility of earning a bit of foreign currency on the side.

      •  well the tourist discrimination (0+ / 0-)

is 100% the result of the communist regime.  it has decoupled the tourist economy from the cuban economy.   hawaii has lots of tourism too and it is not a "gringo client state" (or japanese client state if you prefer).   in all reality cuba's future is tourism or poverty for a while.  maybe eventually when they have rebuilt the education system(yes it sucks too) and rebuilt the infrastructure they can spread out to other significant economic activities.
