    which puzzling as it may seem makes it far less (potentially offensive) and throws and interesting entymological twist into it.

    Anglo is commonly used in the US by Hispanics as a derogatory term for the mainstream white population.  It has underlying racial connotations.

    English disease on the other hand is reminiscent of the French disease a euphemism for syphilis. Which puts an interesting twist on the whole thing.
