  •  So, what's the big deal? (4+ / 0-)

Yes, Lautenberg would turn 90 early in his last year of his next term.  But Robert Byrd is 90 right now, and I don't hear ANYONE with an ounce of sense in their heads complaining about Byrd being in the Senate.  If the Republicans say squak, you shut their big mouths by saying just two words..."Strom Thurmond."

And Robert Byrd's history on the issue of global climate change, coal, and obstruction of any meaningful efforts to deal with the problem put him in a category with John Dingell, in terms of elected Democrats.

In terms of the lives that will be lost as a result of that obstructionism, he belongs in a category with apologists for Stalin, Hitler, Mao, and Pol Pot.

So he's right every once in a while. So is a stopped clock.

This is a man who already retired once. If Torricelli hadn't been such a flagrant crook that even New Jersians were taken aback then he'd be well into retirement by now.

Was reflecting on the odd series of events that led us here.

      Grunge is still in... right?

    •  Frank Lautenberg is a War Criminal (0+ / 0-)

He was one of a the Torture Democrats who voted for the Military Commissions Act in 2006.

Folks around here who supported the six Torture Dems who won that fall--Brown, Nelson, Nelson, Stabenow, Carper, and Menendez (the Garden State seems to like Democratic human rights violators)--ought to be ashamed. And shouldn't be surprised that a Democratic Party that depends on such moral monsters has done nothing to resist the Bush Administration.

Frank Lautenberg deserves a court date in the Hague, not another term in the U.S. Senate.

This nicely summarizes what's wrong with American political life today. (Source)
