    That I definitely think that teachers are woefully underpaid compared to what they offer our society. And you could never pay a good teacher enough.  I just don't think that paying teachers 3X the typically nyc salary will really do anything other than cause resentment.

      salaries higher, it will serve to attract more bright young minds to the profession.

      Ideally I think teaching should be much like medicine--a respected position, that ideally is well-compensated, but it's not something that 99% take up solely to make beaucoup money.

        that teachers should have higher salaries, but I'm not sure if schools in nyc are really in the position to offer higher salaries to attract better teachers. Aren't wages set by the contracts with the unions?

        I think you would need some sort of large scale effort with help from the government to increase teacher salaries if you are talking about making salaries more competitive with other professional jobs.
