    in your context clearly doesn't mean ALL work.  It means work for wages under the supervision and for the profits of someone else.

    WORK for oneself as an owner-operator of a business  or homestead is not exploitative.  It is, in fact, self-actualizing.  Not too coincidentally, it's what the original founding fathers of our democracy envisioned for the majority of people of this country, with those temporarily working for wages earning sufficient money to "set up" in their own business or purchase land.  Instead, we have gone in the exact opposite direction, with fewer and fewer small-business owners, and more employees of fewer and larger corporations.
