You must not be around many racists.  I am.  They're not talking about "baboons" any more.  Their basic line is that white people are oppressed and downtrodden because they're white, and blacks are getting all the breaks, regardless of ability.

That's exactly Ferraro's line Obama.  He's not where he is because of ability, but because of a kind of affirmative action.  He's only where he is because he's black.

Couple this with her saying on Fox today:

Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let's address reality and the problems we're facing in this world, you're accused of being racist, so you have to shut up. Racism works in two different directions. I really think they're attacking me because I'm white. How's that?

Man, I wish I had a quarter for every time I've heard that one, about reverse racism.  "They're attacking me because I'm white."  That's a direct quote.

I'll just say, if that's not racism, then racism has disappeared from America, which is what Ferraro probably thinks.

That if you don't think black people are going to interpret this line of rhetoric as racist, you're not around many black people.  And that will be really good for the Clinton campaign in the fall if she manages to steal the nomination.

be one of our best candidates in many many years. It's like being on the same side in a war and shooting your fellow soldier because you thought that he was going to get shot by the opposition anyway. It's terrible logic. And this is inexcusable for any democratic campaign to not immediately renounce.

      •  I'm black.. and I find her comments OFFENSIVE.. (7+ / 0-)

It is to suggest that every accomplishment I have ever made, and ever will make.  As hard as I try, as much as I work towards what might seem an unattainable goal - once I get there, it was only because it was handed to me.. because I was born Black?

My kids will never have an accomplishment, a success, without affirmative action or some quota stepping in.  Even if they are the most skilled, obviously the most educated, demonstrate better judgement that's not enough... only because they are Black will they be granted success..

Kids in the ghettos of America, without teachers, books, parents, food, proper shelter, rapid ambulance response, fair policing,  fair judges, fair imprisonment, fair death sentences -- they must have it easy.. Society has given them everything, and look how they squander it.

People like Ferraro literally hurt my respect for America.  Sometimes being African-American feels like being an African who immigrated to America.  Sometimes it feels like being a foreigner, accent, funny mannerisms, the whole nine yards..  Sometimes standing out of a crowd can be good, but it's almost never good in America if you stand out of a crowd of White people and you're Black..

One thing about Ferraro's comments are somewhat true.. Obama wouldn't be in the same place he is now if he wasn't Black.. Why?  Because people like Limbaugh and Ferraro and Bill Clinton wouldn't play the race card if he was say Japanese or Hawaiian.  Why?  Because nobody gets treated like Black folks do in this country.. nobody!  (Although the Japanese were interned, but the point is still somewhat valid)..

When you look at Ferraro, you see Hillary
          standing right beside her.

Don't expect any "reject and denounce"
          from the Clintons on this.

Ferraro's playing the card that Bill can
no longer play. And look at the timing of it.
          It's cold and calculated.
