  •  I love my Dad (4+ / 0-)

but he's a deep South racist, through and through.  Been mellowed over the years, but can't fully get it out of the system.

He's taught me a great deal over time, including why I shouldn't accept racism and its inevitably fearful, cultural roots.

So, why would I keep a relationship going with my Dad, considering I no longer live at his house and know that in his heart, he's still a racist?

Because I love and appreciate almost everything about him, and can forgive some things even while talking against them in the larger community - such as DKos.

    Because I'm not his clone.

    Consider that a clue.

"So, please stay where you are. Don't move and don't panic. Don't take off your shoes! Jobs is on the way."
