I see you've addressed many of my issues, but I fleshed them out more completely. In reflection, I stated that the vehicle being driven would be in steady-state, not accelerating or driving in city conditions of stop and go traffic.  Even with the best imaginable regenerative braking, (and of course, without ever having to use electric lighting, heating, air conditioning or the radio!) pure electrics have a very long way to go before they can replace liquid-fueled vehicles.

If they cost half the cost over the lifetime of the vehicle, then they'll make an attractive alternative, even if they can't match the performance of ICE-based vehicles.

People buy scooters and bicycles because they are cheaper to buy and operate and they don't match the performance of cars, either.

On the front lines of the energy crisis.
