  •  I fear confusion of conservatism with corporate (5+ / 0-)

fascism makes it easy to use the word as bludgeon and not as accurate as it could be.

Classical conservative thought does not embrace "borrow and spend", destroying the infrastructure to maintain a plutocracy or imperialism. It does not necessarily embrace corporate power, at least not in the destructive way it has become with mergers, consolidation and huge trusts that control almost everything.

Eisenhower's warning about the MIC was to the conservatives of his day, which no longer exist.

Ike was pressured throughout his term to lower the tax rate on the top tier - which was 91% for people earning $400,000/year. He fought back, and it was Jack Kennedy who started the process of lowered tax rates on the very wealthy.

Conservatism implies some sort of over arching policy design. Today's rape of the middle class was not part of that in Eisenhower's time. The distortion of truth and facts used to determine reality was not part of Eisenhower's time.

I'm basically conservative, when it comes to the environment for example, or sound fiscal policy, or even foreign entanglements .. even though I am to the extreme left hand side on any current political compass or test.

These pigs are corporate fascists, they are not really conservative, about anything: they are radicals who want to destroy the Constitution, who want to concentrate even more power in the hands of fewer and fewer people.

They want to destroy, because of their greed, the Constitution and the United States as a democracy.  A "conservative" would want to preserve the democracy AND the Constitution as active living things. "Conserve" as it were.

These plutocrats want Control. These are the True Elistists.  These are the true enemies of freedom.

      •  and, it's not conservatism, in any way (0+ / 0-)

fashion or form. It's not the conservatism of T Roosevelt or Ike Eisenhower.
