    It's just like FDR when he tried to pack the Supreme Court.

    When your process is bad enough it doesn't matter if you are right on the issues - all fair minded people are going to oppose you because your methods are totally inappropriate.

    For what it's worth, there's more to this than has been explained previously.

    Over 100 years ago Dartmouth entered into an agreement with its alumni to have 50% of the trustees appointed by the alumni.  There is some question of whether or not this agreement was legally binding (that's what the current court case is about) but no one denies there was an agreement.

    Now Dartmouth is attempting to unilaterally reduce the proportion of trustees appointed by the alumni and to force the alumni association to change the way it chooses alumni.

    Not Kosher.

    The right way to do this is to campaign properly for progressive candidate slates.  After all, what prevents moderates and liberals from running for trustee and voting for moderates and liberals?
