Right wind and left wing ultra personality cults. If you ever have a look at North Korean adulation videos of Kim Il Sung and think good thing we don't have brainwashed adorers like that in the free West......And then think of these "Unification Church" videos and your realize it's no different....Both use amazingly effective total reality control brainwashing among the followers/citizens. Both set up the founder-leaders as godlike figures and expect blind loyalty and/or worship. Moons formula for control is remarkably similar to North Korea's and at the same time he has always been an ardent anti-Communist. Doesn't like competition perhaps.....http://www.youtube.com/...

Has anyone found any ex-Moonies who are telling their stories? Are there any? Ex-Scientologists are out there; Dominionist church escapees are out there. Are these other cults more likely to have ex-members and is that in part to inherent defects in the brainwashing and internal logic? Do Moonies have a slicker more successful program that few can think their way out of (especially if they are born to it)? But sanctions on former members vary between cults and some may just be plain scared if not psychologically scarred to the point that they just want to avoid calling attention to themselves.

Right wing holy rollers are obsessed with end time events and yet seem amazingly blind to many candidates for the position of Anti-Christ among the cults of the right perhaps preferring to imagine only their enemies on the left in that sort of role.

Is there any escape from the poison of these anti thought illogical cults whether religious, political or both? Only a re-awakened democracy and a return to real journalism can hope to give us a chance to get us away of the horror of Cults influencing policy and leeching off the American public.

    •  Moon grew up in pre-war North Korea, oddly enough (7+ / 0-)

A woman who grew up bouncing on Moon's lap--the first of the so-called "Second Generation," born without sin--compared him to Kim Jong-Il. And Tony Soprano, too.

Lots of interesting ex-Moonies out there. There's Craig Maxim, who was brought into the cult by his mother. He has some terrible stories about the emotional abuse they suffered.

Steve Hassan, a '70s member, has come to become the national authority on helping your loved one to escape a cult.

One of the most amazing books about the ex-Moonie experience is by early member Allen Tate Wood. In his book Moonstruck, he talks about being singled out by Moon as a promising young leader...and flown to Asia to see his munitions factory and discuss crazy plans to control university life in the U.S.

woman, who regularly makes the AEI-Heritage panels. Can't recall her name right now, but one of her main agendas is driving out all the liberal professors in US colleges and Universities. She even has a "community watch" type program organized for the parents of college students. Damn, i wish i could remember her name.
