Just maybe starting a conversation. I don't expect to "convert" anyone... and there's not even anything to convert anyone to. Hillary? She's at least as bad as he.

But maybe if I start talking sensibly, others will too, and despite that you'll all still vote for him you'll at least recognize him for what he is and let him get away with less.

You, though, understand me about as well as you understand Obama, and we can both agree on that. In that you think you understand both of us perfectly, and that I know you understand neither of us at all.

And for your sincere effort to start a 'conversation'.

Dreams from My Father- unless you think there can't be any semblance of truth, give it a try.  Please.  Go into it as cynically as you would like, I certainly did.

I thought there was some truth in the man, I'd not look for it in a book. At least speaking in public a person can sometimes be spontaneous. A book? Even the most talentless liar could manage that.

        •  Okay- please read it with that in mind then. (1+ / 0-)

Unless you think you would be so easily blinded by pretty words, you should be able to read it without being swayed, if there is no truth in it.  Like I said, go into it with complete cynicism.  It was written in 95, before he got into politics, and it is about his life.  Assume it all to be lies if you want- just read it; it's an interesting take about race.  Of course, it makes perfect sense for a politician to write a book where he describes his drug usage and his cursing with friends...but how about you just read a couple chapters, for the heck of it.  In fact, pretend it's not a presidential candidate writing it at all.  It's really a classic, like the Invisible Man.  Then see if you find any discrepancies et al.  You know, if you don't trust him, I'd like some reasons for that as well.
