But jeez, dude, you sound like a survivalist. And, in the event of this out-and-out fascist state  you're imagining, do you really think a few measly guns would protect us?

If genuine fascism comes, btw, the first sign will be Jon Stewart will be replaced by Pat Sajak and Stephen Colbert will switch from Comedy Central to Fox or HNN.

I suppose I am the only Buddhist in the country with an NRA sticker on the back of a pickup truck, but I make my own path in life.

Peace in the context of current human behavior is a set of shared principles and a community willingness to do violence to those who do not know and respect them.

I saw this coming last June, bought a 4'x 7' trailer to pull behind my little car, and I moved back in with my mom in a town of less than a thousand - that would be the security part. As soon as that was done I started retraining myself for a job that might last post crash and in the last five months I've become something of a renewable energy warlord. In fact, that might look nice on a business card, now that I think about it.

So ... I expect my little town of less than a thousand to have a citizens patrol, a community garden, ride sharing for people wanting to go to the next town up or down the line, and so forth. This is a vast improvement over the city of half a million I left behind last summer.
