  •  Indeed airlines are now dealing with the... (4+ / 0-)

consequences of an era when cheap oil will be no more, and there is nothing left to cut back on. And they are going bankrupt like a stack of dominoes falling.

I heard something briefly on the radio about the American Airlines flight cancellations, that it was really about a dispute between the airlines and the FAA. Don't know much more than that though, except that abrupt cancellations of over a thousand flights over some plastic that bundled wires together is pretty extreme.

Cities and the major airline hubs such as Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Orlando are going to experience major economic turmoil as fewer and fewer "middle class" Americans can pay the fare to essentially time travel, a luxury that like so many luxuries, we Americans have come to view as necessities of our "blessed way of life".

Tire skids and teeth marks, what happened to this place? Lawyers and loan sharks are laying America to waste. Joni Mitchell.
