    Yeah, I thought of that too ... that dividing the points is hard. Maybe if people could carve up pies ... wouldn't be too hard if we had reliable electronic voting machines.

    This question reminds me also of the difference between parametric and non-parametric statistics. One makes use of absolute values, the other makes use of rankings where absolute values cannot be assigned or introduce artificialities.

    Surely statisticians have studied these matters carefully and could offer reasonable ideas about the voting schemes.

    Whoever considers one person's life more valuable than another's will soon find himself unworthy of his own.
