    the economy would be fine if Bush and the republicans hadn't pushed through all of his tax cuts.  It's just that simple.  The deregulation might have cause some problems, but the over-stimulation of the economy wouldn't have been necessary if it weren't for Bush.

      It really dates back to Reagan's administration, but Bush deserves the lion's share of the blame. I think it is a good bit more complex than just tax cuts, but that is a nice, easy meme for the common man to digest. Trickle down applies ... but not to profits, just to losses :-(

        NAFTA and other trade deals abetted the loss of jobs and depressed wages. But that's only a piece of it.

        He also supported deregulation and privatization, as did Al Gore. More than supported it - pushed it.

        They also undermined unions.

        There's more, but we shouldn't forget their responsibility.

        And Carter deregulated the airlines. And that has been a disaster with virtually no upside - no matter what they tell you.
