  •  No great love for ABC, but... (4+ / 0-)

They have been outfront in the major media on the torture story, with most recently their major revelation on the Principals W.H. torture planning sessions.

Also, last month, ABC went to bat to get the withheld Pentagon report on how there was no link between Saddam and Al Qaeda.

ABC news did exposes on waterboarding in 2005, and last year broke the story on Daniel Levin's report on waterboarding torture.

I could give a long list of the failures and sell-outs of ABC news as well, but that's already been done. I just want to point out the picture has a few other sides to it. -- Mostly, I am extremely grateful to ABC for airing the Principals story, which might, just might help bring down Condi Rice and -- who knows? -- an entire administration.

With George Mitchell before he went on aire, way back in the eighties, and I admire that man much, except that he has been on Disney board during ABC news worst hours, and many of the "DeanScream" and 911 fabels are flagrant fouls I can no longer forgive...

I still think we are dealing with tin cans, for now-

and considering much other, I think I take back my comments. This goes with a reconsideration of why ABC ran the Principals story, as well.

I think they did the latter as part of an internal conflict within the government, especially the CIA torture professionals and the amateurs in the Bush administration.

Neither side is any good or worth supporting. ABC is dropping the Principals story, emphasis-wise. It had another and different purpose.

I live in NH/VT along the Conn RIver, and the local public radio is second to nearly none, in the public radio realm...

Every phucking day that I choose to turn my radio on, for local news, I hear the feeds from NPR/DC , and I cringe

Juan and Steve Inskeep were absolutely traitorous in their treatment of BOTH dem candidates this AM; despicable, driveby, jimmies on top reporting...

It is ABC News and DC/NPR that concerns me most-  I used to watch Nightline all the time, and I did choose Peter J overall else, back just before the worm turned in the late nineties...

Anyway, I hear what you are trying to say, and I also witcnessed a bit of what drove you back here to this thread to reply...

Maybe one day I will see you around here, when GE et al have been mandated to separate and brand their news divisions as news, and once branded, a deviation into hyperbolic infotainment media gen bs would cost you that brand, and we would then have news outlets that remain BRANDED by the US folks it serves, and if you stray from a code of ethics and practices, you simply lose the BRand.  You wanna watch OReilly?  Go ahead, no brand unless they earn it; same for KO albeit I suspect he would produce "Branded" news the first half hour, and brand logo removed second half hour...

Anyway, I have run on, and run out of patience with our corporate owned,, Cylonesque, media titans...
