There were some sleazy people involved. Therefore Sean Bell deserves death.

    •  Some of the witnesses may have been angry (5+ / 0-)

and had an "uppity" attitude that Judges despise.

They care more how people talk to them than the facts it seems...at least sometimes.

The prosecution had to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the officers involved had committed a crime.  Nobody was asked whether Bell deserved to die but whether the cops were legally culpable.  As someone who has lived in NY all my life as soon as I saw this diary title I started guessing about when and where Sharpton is gonna protest it.  Inflammatory language about lynching doesn't help this one damn bit.

Errol Lewis just said Sharpton was leaving the courthouse (without speaking). Too bad for you: you won't be able to distract from the horror of this by shouting "Sharpton!! Tawana Brawley!!" I feel your pain.

        •  I'm not sure why you're going after me. (0+ / 0-)

Sharpton is gonna do something about this and I hope it doesn't end up distracting from the obvious problems with the verdict or hurting Obama.  Unfortunately Rev Al has a habit of throwing gasoline on fires.  I've seen this movie before.  Do you think the possibility of this verdict didn't occur to anyone before it came down?  Get real. Watch, something is gonna happen.
