Having to do what you're told by a man with a badge who is authorized to inflict pain on you and who will get away with it.

Oh yeah.. sure.. it's for the police officer's safety and all and nobody can possibly say anything bad about that, but the FACT is that this is defacto guilt until proven innocent.

Cops see everybody as potentially guilty and it's up to them to sort them out.

There needs to be a way to get cops to respect commoners.

You are just being asked not to make sudden moves for your own and cops' safety.  Like on a safari.

      •  Potential threat then. (0+ / 0-)

We are all potential threats to the police until proven otherwise momentarily.

        Somehow, that's not acceptable either.

I am no threat to police officers.

I should never have to fear a cop shooting me, but I do.

        •  Perhaps if you were a cop (0+ / 0-)

on the beat, never knowing who or what you are going to encounter in a vehicle you just pulled over, you would feel differently.

          •  Stop it. (0+ / 0-)

            That's just very poor reasoning.

            •  That is hardly a response (0+ / 0-)

I know that if I were a cop I would want, for everyone's safety, that a person who I am stopping not make any sudden moves.  Those moves can be misinterepreted to everyones detriment.  Believe it or not, cops don't go out looking to kill people.  Vast majority of cops would prefer to never unholster their guns.  And behavior that would let them keep their guns holstered is to be encouraged.
