    Obama was pandering to the Faux listeners by boasting of  his creds in taking on the left.

    OBAMA: No, look, I think this is fair. I would point out, though, for example, that when I voted for a tort reform measure that was fiercely opposed by the trial lawyers, I got attacked pretty hard from the left.

    During the Roberts –

    WALLACE: John Roberts, Supreme Court.

    OBAMA: John Roberts nomination, although I voted against him, I strongly defended some of my colleagues who had voted for him on the Daily Kos, and was fiercely attacked as somebody who is, you know, caving in to Republicans on these fights.

      This is who Barack is! He has spoken (and written) of this temperament (which could be called strategic, but it's deeper than that) for many years.

      Similar to his telling black church audiences not to be so homophobic, or automakers to improve emissions, etc. He repeats these stories to reinforce his message that he finds value in not automatically embracing the party line.

      This is the exact opposite of pandering!
