at one time in 2004 but came out the loser.  I'm not sure how much you can put on these early polls besides spin.  Obama has had a hard two weeks and the MSM are doing their part to help Clinton and McCain.

    •  True, but kos used the same site (0+ / 0-)

to point out how Obama was stronger than Clinton, so if the numbers were good then, I'm not sure why they would not be good now.

He did include caveats about how Democratic numbers against McCain may be artificially depressed due to the long Democratic primary campaign. But I'm still worried that Obama is more "depressed" than Clinton even when one tries to take that effect into account.

      •  I don't know what to tell you then (0+ / 0-)

but it's going to be one or the other, Obama or Clinton.  Yes Obama may be having some problems now, but IMO, the alternative will likely split the democratic party right down the middle, no matter what the pundits and their polls say.  I still believe that Obama will be able to connect with most working people, if given a chance without having to answer to charges from two opponents, both Clinton and McCain.  In the end, the only way to have a chance to hold these voters is for the two to ocme together in a joint ticket, no matter who wins the nomination.  I'm just glad I am not one of the persons having to make that call.

        •  Yeah, I know what you mean (0+ / 0-)

I'm hoping that Obama's numbers will go up once he is the nominee - he also needs to craft a way to neutralize the right-wing hounding about Jeremiah Wright. Some talk radio host named Kevin James was on Hardball a few minutes ago yelling his face off like an idiot about the Wright issue.

I don't know about a join ticket, though. I know Clinton can help Obama win Ohio and Florida, but she might also cost him TX, CO, NC, VA, and IA.

Thanks for your comments, though. I have a gut feeling everything is going to work out for Democrats this year, but some days it is rough.
