Here's a letter I wrote for my community:

    Hey all,

Take the time to read this and consider playing a different kind of political game. We're all good progressives and have probably all marched - this is a whole new form of political action: the goal is to spread an idea in society, and the way you do it is by consciously talking about it to people you interact with. Make it a game and you can smile all day long.

Here's what this is all about, the classic technique that brought Reagan and Bush to power was taking a simple idea and repeating it until it became Truth. In this election the Republican's big idea is that Kerry is a flip-flopper and you'll hear this catchy phrase inserted into thousands of speeches and articles. The outcome of this campaign is that Kerry is widely perceived as not being a leader (as opposed to Bush, who cultivates a manly image). It's all theatre, you understand. This is our version: "You break it: you own it", read the snippet below to see why this works.

Colin Powell told president Bush, "if you break it, you own it." And now president Bush is going around talking about having an "ownership society." That's a huge opening for Kerry:

"Mr. president, Colin Powell told you about this war that 'if you break it, you own it.' And now you're going around talking about an 'ownership society.' Well, Mr. President, let me tell you what you own. A million jobs lost. You own that. A thousand soldiers lost. You own that. 1.4 million new people living below the poverty line. You own that. 1.2 million less people covered by health insurance. You own that. A seventeen percent medicare increase. You own that. Health care costs skyrocketing. You own that. The tax burden increasing amongst the middle class. You own that. Mr. President, if you want to talk about an ownership society, let's talk about what you own."

Help this poor lost meme find it's way to the ideosphere!

    Have fun!
