  •  It will be hard to forgive (14+ / 0-)

the way the Clintons have suggested that Obama is unpatriotic and un-American.  They are smart people.  They know that people of color are vulnerable to those charges.  They knew what they were doing.

    •  Having said that, (5+ / 0-)

I admire your ability to have some compassion and respect for Clinton supporters and indeed hope that we can all let our "better angels" guide us in the future!

      •  I have some compassion (8+ / 0-)

for the Clinton supports.  Not the Clintons whom I have come to loathe.

      •  I have a LOT of compassion especially for (6+ / 0-)

the women who for 30-40 years have been on the frontlines of the battle for gender equality in America. SO much of the progress of today was achieved by their hard & persistent work, going through the muck of being tarred & feathered in so many ways by the old boys club in America who denigrated the idea of women agitating for complete parity. Those are the people I feel for the most -- the people who have given so much that it is only natural they would want to see the prize of attaining the highest position in our Land.

I have tremendous compassion for those who actually fought the good fight for so long. However, that compassion gets dissolved very quickly when the low-blow tactics of the Clintons is not just ignored as "unfortunately the way you gotta fight to win these elections" but rather defended with some kind of moral code to it -- as though believing that Obama is simply a man of rhetoric, and he's unpatriotic, and he has bad judgment re his pastor, and he may not even be a Christian for all we know.

No. None of that flies. Anyone who has gone past the point of quiet neutrality when it has come to these disgusting tactics of the Clintons, and crossed into the land of moral and character criticism of Obama, sorry, you lost every single ounce of credibility & compassion you built up for those 30-40 years of hard work.

It didn't have to go that way. I was fine with people of this demographic profile who were adamantly backing their preferred candidate because it was quite possible she'd become the First Woman President of the United States - and this alone was all the reason one needed to vote for her over anyone else. But once the campaign deteriorated from selling Sen Clinton's qualities and experience and proposals, and descended into Bill's race-baiting, and then the kitchen sink strategy that followed, to stay in her camp then? Well THAT was even okay with me -- but at least have the decency to refrain from adopting your candidate's hate speech and propogating it further.

Any and all who made the conscious choice that electing a woman President was even more important than common decency and truthfulness and integrity, sorry, that's where you lost me in the compassion column.

So unto others as you would have them do unto you. You didn't.

_ it's now a fight to the finish>> Dean progressives v. Clinton centrists.

    •  For the rest of my life... (15+ / 0-)

I will never forget what she said on 60-minutes...when she said, "He's a Christian--as far as I know."

      That was absoltely chillingly sinister.

I am a just a regular person, trying to save my Constitution and my country.

Please read the whole interview. Senator Clinton was badgered with the same question over and over and over. You are quoting her rather frustrated final reply to the same question. If you don't like the way that The Rev. Wrights statements were taken out of context, please don't be doing the same thing yourself.
