  •  He's still a reliably liberal Dem (1+ / 0-)

Other than this one affront, he's a good Dem and it would be a mistake to challenge him.  This is probably his last term, and a non-divided Dem party would probably retain this seat.

I'm usually a fan of primaries- I just think, disappointing as this is, he's allowed a misstep.

    Bush will be impeached.

    •  Not quite that reliably (5+ / 0-)

The FISA votes used up his misstep allocation for the year.

reliable meant something. It didn't mean "some of the time" or "most of the time." When it comes to important issues, reliable meant "every time" -- hence the term.

When preservation of the "old boy's club" by supporting a right-wing zealot takes precedence over the benefit of the people you serve, you no longer deserve to represent them.

This is no less a traitorous act to the party than Joe Lieberman's disgusting display as he publicly kisses John McCain's ass every change he gets. Somebody's gotta pay the piper.

McCain: "I think that clearly my fortunes have a lot to do with what's happening in Iraq" ... Buh-bye!
