in the wind by a party he'd given his life to supporting.

And no, a huge number of people on the left didn't support him.

Most of what I read around here was "Wright should shut the fuck up" "wright should just go away" and things like that.  I don't see that as hugely supportive.

but the Press Club conference was over the top.The whole episode is so incredibly sad-I can almost feel the hurt, on both sides.

    •  Party? Didn't he say that he's not (1+ / 0-)

      a politician?

We've had three go arounds on this Wright thing.  Initially, the left was supportive until Clinton and the MSM wouldn't let it go.  That forced Obama to make a statement -- and he gave a great speech.  Since Obama = Wright, it is rational that Obama wouldn't agree with Wright on everything and it was appropriate for him to state where he and Wright differed.  That should have been that.

Then it heated up again.  Wright went on Moyers.  And then he goes on to make more crazy sounding statements.  It's as irresponsible for him claim that AIDs is conspiracy against blacks as it is for GWB to scare people with his so-called terrists.  Tough to defend that and in the meantime this was sticking to and hurting the most talented politician in several generations.

He's a retired minister -- so why was it about him "twisting in the wind?"  It was Obama that was twisting in the wind for what and how Wright had spoken.  With a friend like Wright and a DEM colleague like Clinton, Obama doesn't need any enemies.

What FDR giveth; GWB taketh away.
