    •  To be quite honest, (14+ / 0-)

I think every major news network keeps up with this blog, and a handful of others. Even Fox News keeps tabs on it, though for them it is enemy intel :p Blogs like this are the thinktanks that liberals have needed to compete on a level playing field with the Republicans again. The great thing about our blogs when compared to their think tanks, is that ours are free, while theirs soak money like very...expensive...sponges? My analogy fails, but you get the point. Ours are better. They're open to anybody to participate, people powered, free or even profitable to operate, and they come in a variety of flavors to please every Democrat!

Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or a politics of hope?

        •  Ah yes, (10+ / 0-)

I do. Daily Kos is taken quite seriously. It's no mistake that Keith Olbermann is here now. Hell, even Obama wrote a diary a few years back. We even have a new celebrity born from this election season: poblano got started writing Daily Kos diaries on the rec list before he ran off to make his own website. He'll be on CNN tomorrow evening, and that's after being written up in the WSJ and Newsweek. More often than not, segments on shows like Daily Show, Colbert Report, and Countdown with Keith seem to have been ripped straight from a diary (and sometimes the punchlines come from the comments).

I'm not accusing these shows of plagiarism... I'm just pointing out that blogs like ours have become an important source for talking points and new topics/issues, things of that nature. Republicans have think tanks and people like Rove who do this same thing; they generate issues or talking points which are shown to be effective towards the purpose of getting Republicans elected. Our blogs serve the same purpose, just with a different (and in my opinion, better) method.

I guess my point is basically to say that I think emailing the media is ineffective, since those who would get this video out to the right target audiences are already watching us and will do so without the emails. I guarantee, one week or less, and the video in this diary will make it to either The Daily Show or The Colbert Report. Probably both. Time would probably be better spent sending it to your friends and relatives, independents and undecideds especially :)

They are a school of democracy, a debate club, a rhetoric seminar, an experimental lab for international and intercultural dialogue, a place to meet friends and make new ones while talking about stuff that almost always matters,...my favorite invention of the 21st century so far.

I believe in 50 years we will look back and say: That's when everything started to change because WE started to learn to talk to EACH OTHER, instead of letting others do the talking for us. Revolutionary. (Dkos being something like the avantgarde, the standard bearer.)

        •  and when people get nasty (0+ / 0-)

they get HR'ed to death, therefore DKos doesn't become a troll haven, I read many blogs and for the  most part their comments sections became  unreadable b/c concern trolls, sock puppets, personal manifestos and comment spam.
