The numbers seem fairly accurate.  However, the cause of the suicides by veterans is being mis-identified.  The veterans aren't killing themselves because the VA is not providing adequate after-care.  The veterans are killing themselves because while they were in military service they were ordered to do things which violate their sense of moral behavior and left them with memories with which they can't live.

What's being recommended is that if we can just brain-wash them after the fact, everything will be OK.  What needs to happen is that the full trauma be revealed and that the circumstances that produce it be stopped.

Clearly, some brains are more sensitive to moral insult than others.  That does not mean the moral insult is acceptable.  Actually, it suggests that some people find group mayhem, risk-taking and violent aggression more to their liking than others--a conclusion that's consistent with the finding that troops who require waivers of criminal records to get into the military "wash-out" of training at a higher rate (probably because their IQ is inadequate), but that those who make it through the training earn more medals and are promoted at a faster rate because of their aggressive behavior.

From which I conclude that our obedient military is a legalized gang.

How do you tell a predator from a protector? The predator will eat you sooner rather than later.
