  •  Yes, but (3.66)
I worry about this amazing place suddenly feeling official. I'm not sure I want Kerry or Edwards writing a diary entry here. It would be cool if Kerry were to write a quick note saying "we need feet on the ground in Ohio" and then hundreds of Kosopolitans show up to do door-to-door for Jeff Seeman--but the minute the top level shows up on these pages is the minute this place will start to feel like a top-down environment--and thankfully it's truly anything but that.

I'd rather we just got a quick thank you in Kerry's victory speech!

    •  They are aware of us regardless. (none)
They know we are here and we've obviously made enough noise to get their notice. I don't think we should be worried about a one-time Kerry appearance.

      •  According to the AP (none)
Kerry found out about the fired Kerry supporter in Alabama after reading a story in a newspaper. I've seen no other confirmation of where he got the idea to invite her to his campaign.

Meanwhile it's also entirely possible that Kerry got the "you own it" phrase because several of us emailed it directly to the campaign staff.

Just saying I'm not convinced he's reading this. I'm more convinced that the Kos community knows how to take ideas that formulate here and make them heard through other avenues.

I don't know if having a Kerry spokesman would be such a good idea. Some of the power of Daily Kos is it's ability to speak unrestricted as a community. If this website is believed to have some close connection to the Kerry Campaign then the media would treat us like an extension. We would then have to either censor ourselves or BC04 and the media will surely use some of the more radical posts against Kerry. I'd hate to see a post comparing Bush to Hitler make the AP wire as a reflection on Kerry.

Perhaps this can be done very carefully, but I don't like the idea of Daily Kos being restricted from association to the KE04. There are plenty of people, sites, organizations, etc that occuply that place. What's unique about Daily Kos is our cohesiveness to speak and act freely and united.
